The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) hosted a transportation research and innovation peer exchange in Greenville, South Carolina, from October 27–29, 2025, bringing together other state DOTs, subject matter experts, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Funded through the State Transportation Innovation Councils (STIC) Incentive Program with a 20% SCDOT match, the exchange focused on advancing SCDOT’s annual Innovation Challenge through four key areas: identifying innovative ideas and practices, recognizing and implementing successful innovations, sharing innovation across agencies and partners, and fostering a culture that encourages creativity and continuous improvement. Discussions emphasized leadership engagement, collaboration with district staff, and public outreach, and concluded with a report highlighting SCDOT’s strengths, opportunities for growth, and key takeaways for participants.
